  Once upon a time, an army of humanoid, demonic creatures were once driven by the forces of faith in chaotic entity. They strove for command, war, and to conquer for their own twisted definition of peace.
  
  Their world, Archaelis. Their culture? A sickeningly twisted version of humanity as we might know it. They thrive within a single, massive, hive-- a tightly clustered and semi-futuristic city surrounded by a vast wasteland. Their customs are unique, their rules harsh, and their way of living a fight to survive tier.
  
  Their males and females separated into their own clusters, and never allowed to see the other due to the beliefs of their religion. Their females are rare, and sacred things, and above all a cherished entity of their society. They live in Harmony with one another, in a relaxed and pampered setting. while the males are brought up by their fathers and taught the arts of war. Homosexuality is encouraged, and heterosexuality is seen as taboo and unheard of. Their reproduction is a very artificial process, through which the most fit and honored candidates are chosen for a yearly insemination process.
  
  For eons, they have worshiped the entity of Archaelis; a divine hermaphrodite that was said to give birth to the very first Archaelites on his own. They were people born in the light, and of fire. It is said that the most direct descendents of Archaelis are known as 'devils', and are distinguished through unique blood types, and physical features.
  
  Archaelites as a race may possess attributes of particular classes of demons in our cultures, but they are not true demons. It is not uncommon for some to be born with superhuman abilities.
  
  It is told, that the first Archaelites were raised in the light and fire, and feared the shadows that came in the night. But there was another race that once roamed the night in their stead;
  
  Through the ages the worship of Vangelis has all but been lost. Some whisper that she may have been the sister of Archaelis. While others yet risk exile to believe she the mother of their beloved deity himself. Many Archaelites are raised never to know her name, but yet question the existence of those creatures who are different from them in appearances.
  
  The children of Vangelis, who are born from water and the moon and thrive in the shadows. They were once a wild and free creature that roamed the forests of their world. A benevolent and kind race that whispered softly to the sleeping wood and relished in the simple wonders of their world.
  
  Vangelites as a race possessed many characteristics of nymphs in our own culture. Theirs is a saddened story, wrought with grief. With no capacity for hatred in their nature, they loved their Archaelite cousins as kin. Such a love that would become the seed of evil as they were betrayed. With such a thirst to conquer, to control, and to command? It is inevitable that the Archaelites would capture the Vangelites and force them into servitude beneath them.
  
  They were stripped of their religion, and of their ties to Vangelis. But tearing them from their forests and their lakes? It would unbalance the world, and after several centuries without the Vangelites to worship and tend the land? Their world grew to become the barren wasteland known to them today.
  
  The Vangelites still exist, but life has not been kind to them. They have lost their spark for nature, for love, and for life. Most of them live in sub-par conditions as a lower-class citizens, and are often used as laborers or slaves to their Archelite brethren. Very few of them have risen to claim higher status as great warriors; and even they are discriminated against. They are no longer allowed to publicly call themselves 'Vangelites' but have adopted the term of 'Gargoyles' to represent their now tainted natures.
